About this tool
Manus is a general-purpose AI agent that can plan and execute multi-step tasks across the web, code and a virtual computer, originally launched by the Chinese startup Butterfly Effect. Given a goal, Manus opens a sandboxed browser and terminal, plans its actions, writes code, scrapes data, fills forms and produces deliverables like reports, websites, slide decks and small applications, all in the background while the user can step away. It targets a wide audience of researchers, analysts, founders and creators who want autonomous help with longer projects, and offers integrations with email, Slack, an API and team workspaces with SSO. After moving its operations and ownership outside China in 2025, Manus has positioned itself as a global agentic AI platform alongside ChatGPT, Lovable and Replit.
